Artist Statement

By the time I was 3, my mother noted that I was drawn to everything horse. And, draw I did. Images of horses appeared on closet walls in magic markers and on every piece of paper I could find. I longed for a horse.

A loving grandfather fulfilled that dream for me and I would later become professional within the industry, producing and competing horses to championships as showhunters and jumpers and ultimately within the sport of Grandprix showjumping. Along this way, I continued painting horses and dogs and marveled at the way a flat piece of paper could be turned into the life-like image of someone's beloved pet.

Self taught, my gouache and pastel subjects were influenced by CW Anderson and Andrew Wyeth. Still, I was always aware of something Other than Self working through my eyes and hands. While my body of work consists primarily of commissioned pieces, a few are inspired simply by the beauty of the horse, or in the case of the painting titled "The Lion and the Lamb", by the Spirit of the One who has created all things. With thanks.
